Eastbound and Down

By the end of the first week I’m already reconnecting with my inner redneck. There are 5 students in our class, but only 3 future truckers. There is a beanpole of a man with a Sam Elliott style mustache, calls me little sister, and we call him Wes or Bubba. Oh, yes, that’s right. And Juan or (JEW-on) to Wes (jokingly) a clever, easy going guy who reads and understand English fluently but speaks it cautiously.

The first week was supposed to be all book work, but those of us who are . . . more advanced . . . passed our permit tests in less than the expected time and were on the track yesterday and today.

We were straight-backing and alley backing half the day yesterday, and this morning, but by the end of the day we were shifting. I’d just like to say, I am the queen of downshifting. Anyhoo, even though we didn’t go outside of our track and I only got up to 8th gear, all that double clutching got me in the mood for this:

  1. I am so proud of you!!! Just wanted to tell you that you are so missed and thought of often, even though it has only been a week. Looking forward to going for a ride in a BIG truck! Much Luv, Momma!!!
