The Why in Wynonna

The Reckonings
Long time contributor to country music Loretta Hornbeam has just released her much anticipated album The Reckonings. Her first original record in 26 years, this heavily biographical musical journey gives us a troubling but thrilling look into Loretta’s psyche and the future of the genre.

This exciting new album is a departure from Ms. Hornbeam’s roots, but with all the passion and lively bluegrass flavor we’ve come to expect. Starting with the upbeat ‘Pickin’, up yours’ the layout of songs seems more like an opera than a collection of tracks. The drama unfolds through to ‘Don’t buy me flowers’ and ‘Where the fuck is my truck?’. In an obvious nod to her long time fans she includes an experimental version her famed single ‘The Why in Wynonna’ with guest percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie. For a finale Loretta blends honky-tonk, recitative, and therapy with career making track ‘The Psychological Ramifications of an Impoverished Upbringing.’

Bravo Loretta Hornbeam for bring freshness and tradition to a pop-laden industry.
